One Vision CBO is a community organisation — which means it is only as strong as the community that stands behind it. Our work in Mwiki Sub-Location, Kasarani is made possible not by a large head office or international donors alone, but by the collective energy of residents, volunteers, businesses, and well-wishers who believe that Mwiki's best days are ahead.
If you have been following our work and wondering how you can be part of it, this guide is for you.
1. Become a Member
Membership of One Vision CBO is open to any Kenyan citizen aged 18 and above who supports our mission and values. As a member, you participate in Annual General Meetings, vote on key decisions, and have the right to stand for leadership positions. Annual membership fee is KSh 500, which contributes directly to operational costs. To join, visit our office at Mwiki Community Centre or fill in the form on our Contact page.
2. Volunteer Your Skills
We need skilled volunteers across many areas — and you don't need to be a doctor or IT expert to contribute meaningfully. We welcome:
- Medical professionals: Doctors, nurses, clinical officers, pharmacists, and dentists for our quarterly health camps
- Trainers and educators: Anyone with expertise in digital skills, tailoring, financial literacy, or entrepreneurship willing to facilitate a session
- Administrative and communications support: Help with data entry, social media, photography, videography, or event coordination
- Legal and accounting professionals: Pro bono advisory support for governance, compliance, and financial management
- Youth mentors: Experienced professionals willing to mentor young graduates from our skills programme
3. Partner With Us (Organisations & Businesses)
We are actively seeking partnerships with private sector companies, NGOs, faith-based organisations, government agencies, and academic institutions. Partnership opportunities include:
- Co-funding or fully sponsoring a specific programme (e.g., sponsor a youth cohort, a health camp, or a water kiosk)
- Providing in-kind support (equipment, materials, venue, expertise)
- Offering internships or employment to our programme graduates
- Joint implementation of community projects under your CSR mandate
We provide detailed impact reports, public recognition, and collaborative planning to all formal partners.
4. Attend Our Community Events
Our monthly clean-ups, quarterly health camps, and community meetings are open to all residents. Showing up is itself a form of participation — it signals to your neighbours and to decision-makers that Mwiki's community is active, engaged, and invested in its own future. 5. Spread the Word
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is tell someone else about our work. Share our social media posts, tell your neighbours about upcoming health camps, encourage young people in your family to apply for the skills programme, and recommend us to any organisation looking for a credible, active community partner in Kasarani.
