One Vision CBO Officially Launches in Mwiki — A New Chapter for Kasarani's Community

November 20, 2025

The atmosphere at Mwiki Community Centre on the morning of November 15, 2025 was electric. Colourful banners, a brass band, and rows of excited community members created a festive backdrop for what would become a landmark moment in the history of Mwiki Sub-Location — the official public launch of One Vision CBO.

Registered under the laws of Kenya with Registration Number DSD/47/280/02/146474 and officially certified on 7th October 2025, One Vision CBO had spent its first weeks quietly preparing for this moment — building a membership base, designing programmes, and establishing governance structures. But the launch event was the moment the organisation stepped into the full light of public life.

A Vision Born from Community Need

The organisation's Chairperson opened the event with a passionate speech that drew applause and occasional cheers from the hundreds gathered. "We are not here because someone from outside came to save us," she said. "We are here because we — the people of Mwiki — decided that our community deserves better, and that we are the ones to make it happen."

The speech set the tone for an event that was deeply rooted in local ownership and community pride. Speakers across the programme — including the Mwiki Sub-Location Assistant Chief, a representative from the Kasarani Sub-County office, and two youth leaders — echoed the same theme: that sustainable development in Mwiki must be driven by Mwiki people.

Programmes Unveiled

During the launch, One Vision CBO officially unveiled its flagship programmes for 2025–2026, including the Youth Digital Skills Programme, the Women Table Banking Initiative, the Community Health Outreach Programme, and the Clean Water Access Initiative. Each programme was introduced with clear targets, timelines, and an open call for community members to register their interest.

What's Next

Following the launch, registration for the inaugural Youth Digital Skills cohort opened immediately and was oversubscribed within two weeks, confirming the enormous appetite for the organisation's work. The Women's Empowerment groups held their first meetings in December 2025, and the first Community Health Camp was scheduled for February 2026.

One Vision CBO extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who attended the launch, volunteered, sponsored refreshments, or simply spread the word. Mwiki's journey of transformation has officially begun — and every resident is invited to be part of it.
